How to plan the perfect Mother’s Day brunch
Mothers always give so selflessly of themselves that it hardly seems enough to reciprocate their altruistic ways just one day of the year, but a perfectly planned brunch is a great place to start! Here are some ideas and tips to help you plan a lovely Mother’s Day brunch to spoil your mum and show her just how much she is loved and appreciated.
1. The theme
The theme will set the tone for the day so it’s important to make it meaningful. The best way to do this is to take your mum’s personality and style preferences into account. Is she fun-loving and into all things modern or is she more reserved with a love for the traditional? Make her feel special by choosing a theme that reflects who she is and what she holds dear. Whether you choose to go vintage, floral, rustic or retro, she’s sure to appreciate the thought that went into it all.
It’s no secret that we love tea in Kerrygold country, which is why we especially love the idea of a Tea & Toast Mother’s Day Brunch. This is a lovely play on the classic breakfast of tea and toast and it can simultaneously serve as a ‘toast’ to your mum. This versatile theme can be held indoors or out in the garden, everyone can don their Sunday best and enjoy a multitude of delicious treats.
2. The décor
While your chosen theme will influence your choice of décor, there are a few basics worth keeping in mind. For example, flower arrangements can easily be tailored to suit your theme by colour or design. Party staples can also work really well when used correctly, including balloons and paper décor like paper balls, lanterns or fluffy pom poms. There’s no need to splurge when a few perfectly placed pieces can give the biggest impact, like a solo feature wall or simple tablescape comprised of a centrepiece and pretty cutlery, crockery and glassware.

3. The food
Besides for spending some time with your mum, food is the next best thing to be excited about! Here are four of our favourite sweet and savoury dishes, perfect for brunches.
Dubliner Artichoke Dip
This dip is so good you’d never say it only takes 30 minutes to prepare. Made with our speciality cheese, Kerrygold Dubliner, this dip is simply perfect on top of toast although it can also be served with crackers, pita chips or flat bread.

Rhubarb-Crème
Combine tart rhubarb with light whipped cream and crushed biscuits to create this winning dessert. They look irresistible in glass bowls and will delight everyone’s taste buds from the very first bite.

Crispy Potato Rosti
No brunch would be complete without potatoes; fried till golden brown in a little Kerrygold butter. These are delicious served with any type of meat but they are also lovely with some wilted spinach and a poached egg.

Lemon Drizzle Squares
Try our Lemon Drizzle Squares, a great all-in-one recipe that literally takes 5 minutes to get into the oven. They’ll also keep happily for a couple days in an airtight tin, although we seriously doubt there’ll be any left to keep!
4. The favours
You’ve probably already given thought to your mum’s gift, but why not take things a step further by giving each of your guests a small memento by which to remember the day. A few great ideas we’ve come across include teacup candles or small potted succulents, or you could also keep a polaroid camera on standby to instantly capture and print special photos.

When all the planning is said and done, it’s really all about spending time with the best mum in the world and expressing gratitude for her unfailing love and support. Celebrate Mother’s Day with a whole lot of love and it’s sure to be nothing less than perfect!
