The Taste That Takes You There

Kerrygold Launches New advert for Ireland

Nostalgia themed TV spot features Imelda May version of classic hit ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love’.

Kerrygold, Ireland’s iconic butter brand, has unveiled its latest TV advertisement which will play across Irish screens for several weeks from July 27th, 2020.

The theme of the advert, created at leading global agency McCann, is ‘The Taste that Takes You There’ and speaks to the ability of Kerrygold’s unique grass-fed taste to elevate any moment and transport the consumer to another time or place. In the advert we witness the taste of Kerrygold transporting the main character back in time to a nostalgic encounter with his younger self. The soundtrack for this advert features popular Irish singer-songwriter Imelda May covering the 1961 classic ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love’.

The advert looks at the way in which we all grow up with some brands and some tastes and how these can evoke moments of nostalgia in us. For many families around the country, Kerrygold has been a constant reliable on kitchen tables through decades and generations.

Kerrygold is very much both part of Ireland’s heritage and of the Ireland of today. The advert’s soundtrack plays with that idea of history and innovation by pairing Imelda May’s beautiful contemporary vocals with the timeless classic ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love’.

Kerrygold are delighted to feature the unique voice of the much-loved Imelda May. She is, in her own right, a great ambassador for Irish innovation and creativity around the world. The song, too, is a fitting choice: it originally topped the charts in the UK in 1962 – the same year that Kerrygold was launched there.
