6 Christmas Table Decoration Ideas you Must Try this Year

Have a holly, jolly Christmas with these amazing décor ideas.

Are you tired of using the same red tablecloth and silver place settings for your Christmas table décor? With so much to do over the Christmas period, there isn’t much time leftover to rethink your table décor.

But, luckily for you, we have scoured and put together some festive table decoration ideas so that you don’t have to. From centrepieces to place card holders, there is something for everyone.

Let’s take a look at how you are going to decorate your Christmas table this year:

1. Candy Cane Place Card Holders

Have some leftover candy canes?

If you were planning to hand them out as after-meal palate cleansers or party favours, then you should definitely think about using them as place cardholders.

Not only can you still get rid of your surplus candy but you can make adorable table decorations out of them first – plus you won’t need to pack them away afterwards because your guests can take them home (win-win).

2. Festive String Lights

Sometimes the simplest décor is the most attractive and that is definitely the case when you choose to use festive string lights on your Christmas table this year. Bring your simple white tablecloth to life by stringing some battery-powered string lights over the table.

This way you can put the lights for during Christmas lunch/dinner and just switch them off again and neatly store them for next year.

And you can create a very romantic festive atmosphere if you are only making dinner for two by simply dimming the overhead lights slightly.

3. Gingerbread House Centerpiece

If you are looking to go full throttle with your Christmas décor then you definitely need to include this adorable gingerbread house as your centrepiece. Not only does it look really festive, but it is also fun to make and that way you already have dessert covered!

Simply follow the link for the full recipe.

And, if you cannot stomach the thought of eating the festive baked good you spent hours decorating and preparing, then you will be happy to know that the gingerbread house can last for up to a week but can go for even longer if you do not plan to eat it at all.

4. Festive Salt Shakers

To add a simple yet elegant festive touch to your Christmas table just purchase some plain glass salt and pepper shakers, fill them aesthetically with the right amount of salt and stick in some miniature Christmas trees!

This is super easy to do (you can get the kids to do it for you) and you can even include other festive critters like reindeer or Santa figurines to bring some more variation to your table décor.

Plus the salt looks like snow so how can you say no to this adorable idea?

5. Glazed Gingerbread Cookies

If you are looking for a super easy DIY decoration then you cannot go wrong with cute little gingerbread men. Super simple to bake, fun to decorate and you can just put them in a place on your Christmas table and voila!

For the full gingerbread men recipe just follow the link.

Not only are they amazing for table décor, but like with the candy cane suggestion, your guests can also part with some as a gift after your dinner party.

6. Red and White Festive Vase

If you want to stray away from the more ‘Christmassy’ décor ideas and go for a more formal look then this red and white floral vase centrepiece is straight up your alley and you can enlist the children to help you out!

Begin by placing a long, cylindrical object in the centre of the plain glass vase that you have selected and then fill the gaps with white and red marbles – layered in the pattern that you prefer. Then fill the vase with the flowers of your choice.

You can use an empty kitchen towel roll cut down to size as the cylindrical object if you are stuck for ideas! Plus this works nicely to hold the selected flowers that you have chosen – win-win!
